The Municipality of the Capital offered an increase to municipal workers similar to the agreement closed by the provincial government. That is, a figure of 428,800 pesos for an employee who has just started plus a bonus of 50 thousand pesos.
This was confirmed in an interview with the program Tomorrow is today from Radio Ancasti the Secretary of Government of the municipality, Fernando Monguillot, who asked the SOEM to “open the dialogue.”
“The Municipality is in a position to match the same salary floor as the Province,” said the official. “In this way, a category one employee of the Municipality could receive 475,000 pesos in their next salary, the same as in the Province.”
In the comparison, Monguillot did not ignore the fact that the Province agreed with the unions, while the SOEM called for an indefinite strike. “They have worked for an agreement and not with extreme measures, but through dialogue.”

He stressed that this is “a great effort” by the commune towards its employees. “I think it is good to clarify it so that it is demonstrated that the Municipality has a willingness to dialogue, is willing to improve things for the worker,” he said.
This proposal must be evaluated by the SOEM, and Monguillot said that “If it is accepted, we will sign the minutes tomorrow.”

He also said that dialogue “is important in order not to waste time” and that it is time to bring positions closer together and give in, inviting the SOEM to “not continue with a sterile measure.”
The context
In the interview, Monguillot asked the workers to understand “the national economic context that gives a lot of unpredictability” and Catamarca Capital “is not a satellite of that national context,” considering that the original request for a 50% increase raised by the SOEM “is “somewhat disproportionate” because that is how variables such as April inflation, 8.8%, show it and the province and the nation close agreements below those figures.
In that sense, he asked to “appeal to rationality” not to immerse oneself in the conflict to move the negotiation forward.
