Neighborhood associations maintain the blockade on the Santa Cruz – Trinidad route

Far from dialogue and a probable solution to the conflict, This Wednesday marked the first day of the indefinite blockade on the Santa Cruz – Trinidad highway. The extreme measure is carried out in the municipality of San Julián, which has kept the route closed since early Wednesday morning.

The Federation of Neighborhood Councils (Fejuve) and social organizations demand that the Government of Santa Cruz, enforce the rule that establishes the price of a public transport ticket at 25 bolivianos between San Julián and the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra.

The measure has no intermediate quarters and will remain in place until the population’s request is met and the three transport operators are sanctioned for unilaterally increasing the cost of the ticket from 25 to 30 bolivianossaid Víctor Hurtado, Fejuve executive.

The leader said that another demand from the Government is that operations cards be granted to other transport lines that are willing to work, charging a price of 25 for the trip from San Julián to the capital of Santa Cruz.

“We will only lift the measure if the Government attends to these two requests. People are not able to pay 30 Bolivians because he lives in a crisis situation”, he indicated.

Hurtado said that since the beginning of May they have been asking for the Government to step down to solve the problem, but it does not respond to our demands either.
