Despite recent operations aimed at disrupting gangs dedicated to car theft, Telenight showed the increase in the number of criminal acts of these characteristics.
Based on data from insurance companies, it was noted that in the first five months of the year there was a 50 percent increase compared to what was recorded in the same period in 2023. This showed an average of nine stolen cars per day.

Marcos Spaccesiholder of the Association of Insurance Advisory Producers of Córdoba (APAS)pointed out “the vehicles that are normally stolen are medium and small and of course the pickups that are used for spare parts”.
After analyzing the statistics from the beginning of the year, he stated: “We thought that this number was going to go down with the investigations that the Police carried out and that they found junkyards but it did not go down. On the contrary, insurance companies have increased their accident rates in the automobile theft”.
