The elected governor of Santa Cruz, Luis Fernando Camacho, is -supposedly- open to receive the current governor in office, Mario Aguilera, at the Chonchocoro prison. The intention is related to discussing decisions that have generated controversy within the Creo party, as revealed by Efraín Suárez, a close collaborator of Camacho.

“I believe that the governor I had no problem receiving it because he is an open person; “He is a person who prioritizes the good of Santa Cruz above anything else and because, in addition, he has many questions about the vice-governor’s management,” Suárez stated.

He added that, “among these questions is his alliance with the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS)” and the strengthening of said party in the Departmental Legislative Assembly (ALD), where it controls several key commissions.

“The facts are that the Departmental Legislative Assembly changed its leadership and voted for the vice-governor’s candidate (Antonio Talamás) with the 11 votes of the MAS bench. The facts also show that the governor approved that a Masista be at the head of the Autonomy Commission of the Legislative Assembly, something that It is an affront to Santa Cruz because the Masistas never agreed with autonomy,” said Suárez.

“So, they are concrete facts that the governor, Luis Fernando Camacho, has to ask the vice governor (Mario Aguilera). Above all, why did he act that way, what is the agreement he has with the Movement Towards Socialism and why he betrayed the vote of the people of Santa Cruz”he added.

For his part, Mario Aguilera celebrated a few days ago the recent visit of Samuel Doria Medina to Camacho in Chonchocoro, in La Paz, and announced that he will return to the prison to try to meet with the elected governor.

“That’s something I committed to myself.. And the other day in an interview they asked me why? Because at the end of the day I received a management and I am developing a management, and the elected governor has to be informed as he should: with the truth, with documents, with papers, with projects, with signatures, with volume, with all the things that are being done,” said Aguilera.

Since Camacho’s arrest, in December 2022, Aguilera has not been able to have direct contact with him. According to Camacho’s lawyer, Martín Camacho, Aguilera tried to visit him in January 2023 without success.

Recently, at the beginning of May, he tried again to visit him, but the meeting was not possible.
