The Minister of Production and Sustainable Development, Martin de los Rios He met with deputies, members of the Energy Commission of that body. The meeting was facilitated by its president, the representative for San Martín, Santiago Vargas.

The head of the productive portfolio first provided an overview of the issues linked to mining activity. He assured that the social impact of mining is measured by the economic activity that spreads around it: suppliers, sources of employment, corporate social responsibility actions that the Province plans with the mining companies. And he stressed that more than 50 thousand people from Salta are today linked to this industry, whether working in the mother companies, subcontractors or suppliers.

Then the line of actions developed by the Government in energy matters was specifically addressed.

De los Ríos explained that despite the difficulties of achieving investments in the northern hydrocarbon basin due to the Vaca Muerta boom, the Province managed to get Tecpetrol to invest in the exploration of three new wells in Campo Durán, and that on the other hand, conditions are being studied to enable the exploration of the deep Río Pescado basin.

They also addressed the efforts being carried out with the Nation to ensure gas this winter, since the reversal works on the NOA Gasduct and the conduction sections from the Nestor Kirchner will not be completed until November or December of this year.

Finally, the reality of biofuels was analyzed. The official recalled the work that the Provincial Government does within the framework of the Bioenergetic League and that it achieved that the modifications that were intended in the Bases Law were rejected. He also compared the promotion of this sector in neighboring Brazil, large automobile manufacturers, with the regulations sanctioned in 2006 and 2021. “The latter stopped investments,” he explained. “It is an irony, the world demands sustainability in productive activity, and with this law we discourage it,” he emphasized. “That is why the role of the legislator is so important, and we, fulfilling our duty as public officials, always want to build bridges of dialogue.”

In particular relation to the San Martín Department, he listed the actions they carry out in a region “that is rich above and below the ground.” The official urged to “change mentality” and stressed that the fact that the hydrocarbon matrix has been established in the south does not mean that the north does not have possibilities. “That is why we are working with national authorities to generate a simplified trade regime for borders.”

“What we see is a Ministry that is working hard, and this gives strength to the province of Salta, especially in what concerns us, which is energy,” said Deputy Vargas. “That feeling that we sometimes have in the northern province that we are abandoned is not like that. This portfolio works together with the Economy to generate more incentives for hydrocarbon exploration, among other things,” the legislator stressed.

The deputies were also present: Monica Juarez, Griselda Galleguillos, David Taranto and Enzo Alabiall members of the Energy Commission.
