Faced with an anonymous complaint that questions the selection process for the position of Administrative Vice Chancellor of the University of Cauca
The directives of this prestigious higher education institution have come forward to deny any type of irregularity and ratify the suitability of the chosen candidate, Systems Engineer Jorge Adrián Muñoz Velasco.
The complaint, filed with the Attorney General’s Office and the Comptroller’s Office, alleges that Engineer Muñoz would not comply with the requirements set out in the functions manual for the position of Administrative Vice Chancellor. However, the directors of the University of Cauca have stated forcefully that the experience of the chosen candidate has been duly certified and endorsed, both in his related experience and in his previous work history.
From the legal area of the institution they have been in charge of supporting and demonstrating that the election process of Mr. Muñoz Velasco was carried out in accordance with current regulations and fully complying with all the requirements demanded for the position. “At the University of Cauca we are governed by the highest standards of transparency, merit and equality in all our personnel selection processes,” said an official spokesperson.
The rector of the University, Deibar René Hurtado Herrera, has reiterated her commitment to the institutionality and has stated that she will not tolerate any type of unfounded accusation that seeks to tarnish the impeccable reputation of the Cauca alma mater.
For his part, the next Administrative Vice Chancellor, Jorge Muñoz, has expressed his gratitude to the University for the trust placed in him and has reaffirmed his willingness to take on the challenges that this management position demands.
Periódico Virtual had access to the resume of Engineer Jorge Adrián Muñoz Velasco and, although it is not shared in its entirety because it is protected by the Habeas Data Law, extensive work experience is evident that supports his suitability for the position of Administrative Vice Chancellor, including management positions in large companies in the private sector.
As long as the competent authorities have not ruled on the complaint filed, the University of Cauca will continue with the normality of its academic and administrative processes, maintaining its firm commitment to educational excellence and the comprehensive training of its students.
