The process to elect the next 21 new magistrates who will enter the Judiciary of San Juan is beginning to come to an end. Starting next Monday, June 10, the interview schedule will be announced for each of the candidates who must face the legislators. The intention is that by the end of this month, or at most at the beginning of next month, those who will occupy those positions will be confirmed.
The legislators who are part of the Justice and Security Commission will define the schedule of interviews with each of the candidates for the 21 positions that are at stake and who must complete this step, and then be elected by the majority vote in the chamber. the Chamber of Deputies.
Depending on the times they manage, and taking into account that they will have to interview 63 professionals seeking the positions, the process will take time. If we add to this that this June has several holidays, therefore fewer business days, the calendar is limited for legislators to carry out the interviews. This is why it is speculated that the entire process will be completed at the end of this month or the beginning of next month, and it will take place after the Justice and Security Commission has its chosen ones, which it will propose on the premises in an ordinary session.
It is worth remembering that this is the final part of the contest that was launched last December and that was surrounded by controversies, because it was in the midst of a government transition and generated suspicions, since it was reported that former officials from the last administration were seeking “refuge” in the Judiciary after the electoral defeat that Peronism suffered in the last elections.
Although the controversy caused many to be blocked by public opinion, a few managed to be elected by the Council of the Judiciary as an option for some of the positions in the Judiciary.
The charges at stake
The competition began last December with seven positions to be filled, since they were vacant. This is a position of Criminal Chamber judge for the Court of Impeachment, a position of Legal Justice of the Peace of Calingasta, a position of Legal Justice of the Peace of Valle Fértil, a position of Legal Justice of the Peace of Ullum, a position of Legal Justice of the Peace of Capital for the Fourth Court of the Peace, a position of First Instance Prosecutor and a position of official advisor.
Then another competition was added, which was launched in March to cover 14 new positions that were generated by the implementation of the Comprehensive Adversarial Accusation System. These include 11 positions of first instance prosecutor and three positions of official defender, in order to strengthen the Accusatory System that is now in force for all types of crimes in the province.
