The Dutch Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen, won the Canadian Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve this Sunday and remains at the top of the Formula 1 world championship with 194 points.

Under the rain that hit Canada on Sunday, it was the British George Russell who started first on a wet track, causing problems with the drivers’ vision and tires.

On lap 21, the track was drying and the system was enabled that allows better air intake to the car behind and gives it more speed. In this change during the race, the British Lando Norris surpassed Verstappen and his compatriot Russell who, upon entering the main straight, was left behind by the Dutchman from Red Bull.

Without a doubt, the moment that changed the race was lap 26 when a virtual safety car came in to remove the Williams car of American Logan Sargeant who was left crossed after a spin.

At that time, the drivers went to the pits where they changed their tires during the rainy season due to the precipitation that returned to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. During this period, Verstappen stayed ahead of everyone and took advantage of Norris who was delayed in the pits.

After 70 rounds, the Red Bull driver won and won the Canadian Grand Prix. The podium was completed by Norris from McLaren and Russell from Mercedes.

With this victory in Canada, the Dutchman achieved his sixth victory in nine rounds of the Formula 1 world championship, which has him leading with 194 units while the Monegasque Charles Leclerc, from Ferrari, is the runner-up with 138.

The next date will be June 23 with the Spanish Grand Prix at the Autódromo de Catalunya, in Montmeló. It will be the return of Formula 1 to Europe this season.
