Argentina will not support the WHO Pandemic Treaty

In his usual morning press conference, presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni confirmed that Argentina will not support the Treaty on Pandemics of the World Health Organization (WHO).

”This decision was communicated at the World Health Assembly held in Geneva, Switzerland, where authorities from the National Ministry of Health and the Argentine Foreign Ministry made it clear that Our country will not sign any pandemic agreement that could affect national sovereignty. In Argentina the decisions are made by the Argentinians“, he claimed.

Furthermore, he went on to point out that “we do not have to adhere to any suggestion from a group of countries. “We will make our own decisions in the face of an event that may never occur, such as the existence of a pandemic.”

What is the agreement about?

With the aim of preventing future pandemics and establishing a coordinated response globally, The treaty proposes several key points, including the strengthening of public health systems, international cooperation and the financing of essential infrastructure.

The importance of research, the development of medical technologies and the need for more transparent and equitable management of global resources is also highlighted.
