The selection was made by the International Training Center for Beach Management and Certification (Cifplayas) and the Federal University of Rio Grande (Brazil), based on scientific indicators.

To create the list, managers and academics considered a conceptual-methodological framework where each beach was analyzed according to four dimensions: recreation, protection, conservation and health.

According to these parameters, which are broken down into carefully evaluated indicators, the Meliá Las Antillas beach in the Varadero resort was positioned as the best among all those analyzed, with a score of 95 points out of 100.

Aspects such as environmental quality, storm protection, services and infrastructure reached their maximum value in this case.

“It is characterized by its fine white sand, its blue and transparent waters, and good conservation and restoration of its dunes and vegetation. It has an impeccable integrated management system and offers all the services typical of tourist beaches, with sustainable design and exploitation,” says the Cifplayas study.

For its part, Meliá Internacional Varadero appears in the ranking for the second consecutive year and this time it was placed in fourth place, with an index of 93/100 for its impressive strip of white sands and turquoise waters.

In addition, Perla Blanca beach, near the Paradisus Los Cayos hotel in Cayo Santa María, obtained eighth place, with a score of 90/100.

The Best Beaches 2024 report was carried out by 46 experts, including oceanographers, engineers, geographers, chemists and educators.

The selection methodology was applied to 123 sites in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Spain, Guatemala, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

The presence of three beaches related to the management of Meliá Cuba among the top positions is a sign of the company’s commitment to sustainability and offering each traveler the best experience on the Caribbean island, the note stated.
