In the midst of the announcement made by the director of the Institute of Urban Development (IDU), Orlando Molano, about the early delivery of the 100th Street and Suba Avenue bridge, which was scheduled to be completed between May and June 2025, and that can now be put into operation in December of this year; There were several concerns that appeared from citizens that claim that a part of the bridge structure is “crooked.”

Molano even said that Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán himself had expressed his concern about the way the bridge was looking. “Recently, Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán sent me a video and asked me if this bridge on 100th Street and Suba Avenue was becoming crooked.”

However, the director of the IDU explained that the bridge does not have structural problems, but that some unevenness was found that will be corrected in the process of finishing the work. “We came to the bridge to check and I want to tell you that it does not have any structural problem, it has some unevenness.but because it needs the rolling layer (final layer of asphalt, the thinnest) which is between 5 and 7 centimeters.

When this wearing course is applied and the bridge is tensioned with the post-tensioned cables, it will level out more“, I note.

According to this same information, it is expected that the deviation in the shape of the bridge in the section that is about to be connected will be solved with the tensioning of the segments (structure that creates the union of the two sections of the bridge), the construction and installation of the New Jersey (specific side rails) and the formation of the rolling layer, as explained by the IDU.

Finally, the audit also noted that, “the deviations of the bridge presented within the monitoring for each segment are within the tolerances defined in the designs.” and for this reason there are no reasons to consider that the project has structural flaws.

“The surveying area of the audit has provided daily support to the surveyors designated by the contractor, With our own equipment, the structural information is lifted and reviewed before, during and after each concrete pour through the segments.”they detailed from the project audit.
