Chubut analyzes with businessmen the benefits of the project to promote the Naval Industry

The tool, presented days ago in Comodoro Rivadavia by Governor Torres, seeks to diversify the regional productive matrix, generate new jobs and incorporate new alternatives for the socio-economic development of Chubut.

The Minister of Production participated in the first meeting to address this initiative, Digna Hernando; the Undersecretary of Industry and Commerce, Juan Manuel Castillo; the holder of the Port Administration of Puerto Madryn, Diego Pérez; and various representatives of the Ministry of Educationfrom the productive areas of the municipality of Trelew, Camad Puerto Madryn, business chambers and naval companies.

Additionally, attended by the president of Argentine Patagonian Chamber of Fishing Industries (CAPIP) Agustín de La Fuente; representatives of the INTIof the UTNof the Naval Industrial Chamber of Argentina and of the National University of Patagonia San Juan Bosco.

Also participating were the president of the Trelew industrial park consortium, Martín Castillo, and the vice-rector of the University of Chubut, Fernando Menchi.

“Being pioneers in the country”

In relation to the bill promoted by the governor Ignacio Torresthe Minister of Production of Chubut, Digna Hernandoexplained that “it seems essential to us that it be analyzed by the recipients, and those who know better than anyone what the needs of the sector and the potential for development are.”

Hernando highlighted that the text “It not only refers to the fishing industry, but also related to tourism and sports activities, this allows the naval infrastructure to be developed locally to serve these activities.“, and added: “They are boats that we can develop here, be pioneers in the country.”

Given the importance of the proposed regulations, the minister announced that a similar meeting will be held in Comodoro Rivadavia to bring together the entire naval sector in that area.

Main points of the project

The initiative of the Provincial Government aims to create a Regime of Incentive, Promotion and Development of the Naval Industry of Chubut, a measure that will enable the sustainable growth of the sector; the generation of new direct and indirect jobs; and the design, engineering, repair, transformation, maintenance and construction of vessels for fishing, sports, recreation and tugboat activities, among others.

Furthermore, it aims to facilitate the provision of services by the Local SMEs and the creation of new companies to meet the demands of the naval industry; as well as the development of innovation and new technologies by companies based in Chubut.

This new Regime will allow local human resources to be trained with the required capabilities at all levels and meet the demands for maintenance, repair and transformation of foreign flag vessels and naval devices.
