That the lever to manipulate the transmission disappears has its advantages in favor of selector knobs, because in some way It makes better use of the space in the center console and gives the whole thing a cleaner look, however, it’s not for everyonebecause it caused confusion for the owner of a Chrysler Pacifica.

It turns out that, while he was leaving his minivan from his house, in a reversing maneuver, he detected that there was garbage in the passenger compartment, so he decided to stop briefly to remove the waste, before continuing his march backwards.

Unfortunately for him, instead of turning the transmission rotary knob and engaging Park before leaving for the trash can, the owner mistakenly took infotainment system volume knob and turned it counterclockwise.

This resulted in the Pacifica traveling about 10 feet and crashing into the rear of a neighbor’s parked car. The owner of the minivan had nothing left to do but wait for the inevitable impact.

Fortunately, The damage to both vehicles was minor, But things could have been worse if the neighbor’s car had not been there to prevent the Pacifica from traveling much further away, particularly since his children were nearby at the time.

It is worth adding that The Pacifica has four rotary dials mounted on the bottom surface of the consoleand although the transmission wheel is closer to the driver and a little larger than the other wheels, it is only a few centimeters from the volume dial.
