Rucci, Quintriqueo, Levi and Arévalo united in Neuquén facing Ley Bases: Is there a front for the 2025 elections?

This Tuesday, union leaders they met in Neuquén facing the vote on the Base Laws, which will take place in the Senate on Wednesday. Present at the meeting were Carlos Quintriqueo from ATE, Marcelo Rucci, from the Private Oil and Gas Union of Río Negro, Nequén and La Pampa, Juan Carlos Levi from Oucra and Maximiliano Arévalo from Hierárquicos. Together they analyzed the situation at the country level and the impact of the policies promoted by the national government on the sector. Is there a new front for the 2025 elections?

During the meeting held this Tuesday, as explained union leaders “analyzed the current economic and labor situation of the sectoras well as the scope of the labor policy promoted by the national government and the lack of political representation of the workers.

In this sense it was that Carlos Quintriqueo, general secretary of ATE, ratified his decision to create his own space. “Tomorrow the basic law will be processed and we find ourselves in a state of orphanhood as we do not have representation from the union organizations. And I think it is time to also discuss how we intervene in politics,” he said.

To this he added that «one of the proposals is to be able, in the not too distant future, to discuss with our baseconvene plenary sessions of delegates and intertwine between union organizations to seriously discuss how we intervene, taking into account that next year are the midterm elections. Something that he had previously expressed in dialogue with BLACK RIVER.

This was supported by Marcelo Rucci, general secretary of the Private Oil and Gas Union of Río Negro, Neuquén and La Pampawho considers it crucial that “workers are present in the political decisions that are made, especially considering what is at stake. I think that both the leaders and the bases wonder why we do not have the representation that we should have. “So, we must begin to meet with the organic bodies of the organizations to work on having our own representatives in politics.”

Juan Carlos Levi from Uocra expressed concern about the decrease in work. And he assured that you see the “We are concerned about the reduction in work that we have had in different sectors and that is a wake-up call that puts us in a position to look for alternatives and participate more actively in politics.”

In Neuquén there is already a previous experience of ATE getting involved in politics. Unión de los Neuquinos (UNE) in fact was born as the partisan arm of the union with the help of Julio Fuentes and Mariano Mansilla in 2005 to oppose the reform of the Provincial Constitution promoted by former governor Jorge Sobisch.
