This weekend, the city of Santa Marta becomes the headquarters of the Miss Grand International Trans 2024 pageant, with the participation of contestants who will represent several countries.
The participants in the different events will wear costumes that transcend ethnicity with a differential approach within the framework of Gay Pride Month towards 500 years, under the motto “Santa Marta, the most inclusive city in Colombia and the Caribbean.”
The organizers of this pageant are Luis Reys Calvo, director of Miss Grand International Trans, with the support of Sócrates Velásquez Carrillo, legal representative of the Foundation for the Protection and Strengthening of Lgbt People “Una Luz en Medio del Camino”, and Alain Pérez, spokesperson for the Lgbti District Table of Santa Marta.
This contest includes social, tourist, cultural and artistic approaches, with the aim of highlighting the talents and capabilities of the cultural manifestations of the Lgbtiq+ community such as dance, music, drag performance and theater.
“In this presentation we will have as guests trans participants from different countries who will bring us messages of no more discrimination, crimes, hatred, and promoting dignified treatment, the right to health, education and work,” stated the organizers of this event, to through a press release.
Tomorrow, Sunday, June 15, there will be the Grand Closing Show at the Santa Marta Theater, starting at 7:00 p.m. The entrance to this event will be a donation and with the funds raised social works will be carried out, especially for children’s soup kitchens in the neighborhoods of the capital of Magdalena.
