● Professionals from the Seremi of MINVU Tarapacá gave the start to the first training course on saline soils.
● Next July, courses with SENCE franchise will be opened for professionals, technicians, teachers in the construction sector, in order to advance the work and training of specialists in construction and inspection of constructions in saline soils.

Iquique, June 2024.- As part of the strategic alliance between the SEREMI of Housing and Urban Planning, the Ministry of Labor through SENCE, the Chilean Chamber of Construction and INACAP Iquique, professionals from the Seremi of Housing and Urban Planning of Tarapacá began the first training course on Saline Soils.
This is how architects and engineers belonging to the Department of Plans and Programs and the Department of Urban Development (DDU) of MINVU will strengthen knowledge in the course “Control and execution techniques in Saline Soils” which is aimed at professionals and technicians in the construction area. , who will complete the educational program of 20 chronological hours.
In this context, the Tarapacá Housing Seremi, Diego Rebolledo Flores, stated that “this has to do with the general plan for saline soils that we are carrying out in the Ministry, which implies changing the reactive logic of addressing only the sinkholes by a more preventive and purposeful action, and in that we have generated an interesting alliance with SENCE, INACAP, with the Chilean Chamber of Construction to advance the training of construction teachers and also professionals to specialize in the supervision of construction in saline soil.”
The authority indicated that “this starts with INACAP, but we are also opening to other institutions. We had a very interesting meeting with UNAP, which has its Faculty of Engineering and there is also the School of Architecture. What we want to do is turn this problem into an opportunity. Just as Chile is known for having good professionals to build buildings that resist earthquakes, for example, why not the north of Chile and in particular the Tarapacá region be the place where the best professionals, workers for design, construction and inspection in saline soil. We are happy because it is a concrete step to change this ground logic and begin to generate more purposeful topics.”

The representative of the Continuing Education department of INACAP, Carolina Trillo, highlighted that the course for professionals from the Tarapacá Housing Seremi began, with the aim of enhancing the capabilities of the regional teams, given the challenges that the soils present in the region and how construction is approached.

The first course is Fundamentals of Construction Control and Supervision Techniques in saline soils, with an extension of 8 hours aimed at construction personnel of construction companies and suppliers for MINVU and other institutions, such as municipalities, SERVIU, among others. The second course is Application of construction inspection control techniques in saline soils, which consists of 20 hours and is aimed mainly at professionals in the construction area, inspectors of this sector and people related to the construction sector in municipalities, SERVIU , among other”.
