The Colombian judicial authorities are investigating the violent events recorded this Friday, June 14, in the departments of Cauca and Valle del Cauca.

As a result of this fact, the Institute of Studies for Development and Peace, Indepaz, of Colombia confirmed, on the digital network the southwestern territory of the Latin American country.

One of the deadly situations took place in the Nuevo Horizonte neighborhood, in the municipality of Florida, where three men were shot to death from a van on a public road.

Authorities in the area report that two of the deceased had criminal records for the crimes of illegal possession of firearms and personal injury.

Although the identity of the victims has not yet been revealed, Indepaz assured that the attackers belong to the Dagoberto Ramos Front of the Western Bloc EMC. In collaboration with the Attorney General’s Office, the National Police began an investigation to apprehend those responsible.

Meanwhile, the municipal seat of Miranda, in the north of Cauca, recorded a similar event, when armed men attacked three people without saying a word. Two of them, Jhonny Gómez González and Jhon Álvaro Sánchez, were street dwellers. The third victim too.

The community of southwestern Colombia is shocked by the occurrence of these acts. The alert about the presence and territorial control of armed groups in the area has generated an exacerbation of violence and insecurity among citizens.

In this context, the Ombudsman’s Office issued Early Warning AT 031/23, which insists on the worsening of the armed conflict in the south of Valle del Cauca and the north of Cauca. There is evidence of a growth in illegal armed groups, such as the Dagoberto Ramos Front and the Adán Izquierdo Company, along with the possible entry of the dissident EMC 57th Front.

According to the Colombian magazine Semana, the authorities of the region confirmed the validity of a curfew on the population by the Dagoberto Ramos structure, of the FARC dissidents. Therefore, anyone seen on the street outside of established hours became a military target.
