The Shawl was donated by the Bravo Tedín family in the 80s to the Province, and since then the Güemesiano Institute has guarded the piece. The historian Miguel Bravo Tedín, a descendant of Magdalena Güemes de Tejada, Macacha, after the inauguration of the Güemes Museum in Spain 730 and shortly before his death, expressed his desire for the piece to be exhibited in the Museum’s rooms.

This invaluable piece of natural silk can be seen after arduous and committed conservation work carried out by the Restoration and Conservation Program of the Undersecretariat of Cultural Heritage, directed by Gabriela Doña, who said: “This shawl was in a delicate state conservation. In the workshop we analyze all the deterioration factors of the piece and carry out the corresponding interventions to guarantee its conservation.
