Gendarmes assist families stranded by the storm in Mendoza

Gendarmes from the Special High Mountain Group (GEAM) of Squadron 27 “Uspallata” helped nine adults and three minors who were stranded due to the inclement conditions of the place.

Upon receiving a telephone alert about a citizen who was disoriented and lost near Los Penitentes due to heavy snowfall, the search and rescue protocol was activated.

Immediately, the specialized personnel of the Institution moved to the area where they found that there were three families stranded by the storm.

The patrol was split up so that a group could assist the parents and children and then evacuate them to the Reinforced Section of “Punta de Vacas.”

The rest of the troops continued with the objective of rescuing the citizen who was lost.

After managing to make telephone contact with the man, who was in the mountain refuge approximately 3 kilometers from the base of the “Los Penitentes” ski center, the ascent began using snowshoes together with the Snow Patrol. Rescue of the Police of the Province of Mendoza.
