Francia Márquez’s father suffered an attack in Valle del Cauca

Sigifredo Márquez, father of Vice President Francia Márquez, suffered an attack this Sunday afternoon, while traveling along the road from Timba (Cauca) to the El Roble de Jamundí village (Valle). Both Márquez and a minor who was with him emerged unharmed from the attack in broad daylight by his father.

The public force confirmed that the National Protection Unit car in which he was traveling was shot four times in the El Roble district, around three in the afternoon.

On the other hand, Military Forces helicopters landed a few minutes ago in Jamundí to evacuate the vice president’s father and take him safely to Cali. More soldiers also arrived in these helicopters for greater deployment in this municipality, while investigations continue.

Although it has not yet been clarified who is responsible for this attack, in this region the Jaime Martínez Front, of the FARC dissidents of the Western Bloc, has a dominant presence and territorial control. They are also responsible for multiple attacks against the public force and the population in Jamundí, as well as in other municipalities in the south of the Valley and the north of Cauca.
