Less than an hour ago, the National Police confirmed a violent attack againstthe vehicle in which Sigifredo Márquez Trujillo was traveling, father of the vice president of Colombia, Francia Márquez. The attack occurred while the vehicle was traveling on the road that connects Timba, in the north of Cauca, with Robles.
According to the first versions, the vehicle was hit four times by bullets. Apparently, Sigifredo Márquez Trujillo was heading to Jamundí after leaving Suárez, Cauca, where relatives of the vice president still reside.

Among those affected by the attack was a minor, nephew of the president. The local community responded quickly, providing help to those affected and facilitating their transfer to the area’s Police substation, where they already received protection and attention from the authorities.
Health status of Francia Márquez’s father after attack in Cauca
Fortunately, according to the official version of the authorities,Neither Sigifredo Márquez Trujillo nor the vice president’s six-year-old nephew were injuredfor the shots. Both are out of danger, according to the initial medical report.
Francia Márquez, visibly affected, confirmed a few minutes ago through her X account (formerly Twitter) that her father and nephew emerged unharmed from the attack.
In her message, the vice president expressed: “I inform that my father, along with my 6-year-old nephew and the two protection men, suffered an attack on the Suárez-Cali highway, near Timba, fortunately they emerged unharmed from the attack and They are fine”.
