This important blow to drug trafficking networks occurred on the road that leads from Neiva to Castilla.
According to the official report, the units of the Huila Transit and Transportation Section were carrying out registration work at a checkpoint near the Buziraco village of the Guacirco district, where they gave the stop sign to a truck type vehicle.
There, through an inspection, the uniformed officers found 528 kilos of marijuana that were transported under the modality of concealment in a double tent.
This is how they capture the driver of the vehicle identified as Kevin Santiago Sanabria, who has judicial notes for the crimes of theft, personal falsehood and drug trafficking.
“This substance, valued in the illegal market at more than 700 million pesos, would be destined for the country’s capital and surrounding municipalities,” said a spokesperson for the Neiva Metropolitan Police.
The accused was left at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office, who will present him before a guarantee control judge to define his judicial situation. It should be remembered that article 376 of the Colombian Penal Code states that whoever enters the country, whether in transit or leaves it, transports, carries with them, stores, sells, offers or supplies in any capacity a narcotic substance, will incur a prison sentence of one hundred and twenty-eight. (128) to three hundred sixty (360) months and a fine of one thousand three hundred thirty-four (1,334) to fifty thousand (50,000) current legal monthly minimum wages.
Colonel Alexander Castillo Marín, commander of the Neiva Metropolitan Police, indicates, “…with this seizure, we directly affect the criminal finances of these organizations dedicated to narcotics trafficking, which directly affect the health of Colombians and especially our boys, girls and adolescents.”
