The National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred) declared this Sunday Preventive Early Warning for the regions of Los Lagos, Los Ríos, Maule and Valparaíso. Furthermore, it maintains the Red alert for the Bio bio region by meteorological event.

It should be noted that the Metropolitan Region also maintains a preventive Early Warning for the arrival of a new frontal system, which, according to the Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC)will enter the central zone starting this Monday, June 17.

The regions affected by the rainfall will be those of Valparaiso, Metropolitan, O’Higgins, Maule, Ñuble and Biobio.

According to Senapred, this Monday, between the regions of Biobío and Maule will fall between 25 and 35 millimeters on the coast, while in the mountain range between 60 and 80, which will decrease until Tuesday, June 18. In the Metropolitan and Valparaíso regions, around 15 and 30 millimeters of water.

It should be noted that after last week’s rainfall, which affected a large part of the country, the Bio bio region was the most affected. According to the latest Senapred balance sheet, of the 11,000 victims left by the frontal system, 10,718 are from the aforementioned area. In addition, 3,389 homes have minor damage, 537 have major damage and 36 are completely destroyed.

Isolated people remain at 3,079 after the intense storm, which extended from the Aysén region to Atacama.

The DMC also issued a weather advisory due to normal to moderate snowfall from the Valparaíso Region to the Biobío Region. However, the snowfall will not be felt in all the territories, but in more specific sectors.

According to information from Senapred, in the Los Lagos Region this Monday there will be “normal to moderate snowfalls in areas of the communes of Chaitén and Palena.”

The meteorological phenomenon will also affect the Los Ríos, Maule and Valparaíso Regions in the mountain range for a short period of time.

In addition to rain and snow, the DMC issued an alert for moderate to strong winds in two regions.

The alert begins at dawn on Monday the 17th and considers the Ñuble region, in its coastal area and the Coastal Mountains, and the Biobío region, in its literal area, Coastal Mountains, valley and foothills. Likewise, wind gusts of between 30 and 40 kilometers per hour are estimated, with maximums of 70.
