In a large-scale operation, the Río Negro Police managed to dismantle a criminal gang that operated in several areas of the Alto Valle, with an investigation initiated together with the Ministry of Provincial Security after an aggravated robbery in the town of Chichinales, months ago..
The crime, titled “robbery aggravated by the use of a firearm in a town and in a gang,” triggered an investigation that culminated in an operation.
The investigation made it possible to identify a dangerous gang that had committed significant crimes in the areas of Catriel, Villa Regina, General Roca and Senillosa, in the province of Neuquén. 16 simultaneous raids were carried out in different places in Roca, Allen, Fernández Oro, Cipolletti, Catriel and in Prison 2 of Roca.
The operation involved 95 police officers and resulted in the arrest of seven members of the gang, five of them residents in General Roca and the other two in Allen.
Among the seized items are firearms, replicas of 9-millimeter pistols, 10 HT communication equipment, police clothing, ammunition, cutting tools, a motorcycle with a kidnapping request, narcotics, more than one and a half million pesos in cash, more than 30 cell phones and other elements related to the crimes investigated.
Members of the Regina, Choele Choel, Catriel, Allen and Cipolletti investigation brigades participated in the operation, as well as the Canes Division and the COER groups of Regina, Lamarque and Cipolletti. Mobile phones from different police units were also used to coordinate actions effectively.
The Chief of Police of Río Negro, Mary Carrizo, highlighted the “joint work of the different units and the commitment of the troops who participated in the operation” and underlined the importance of this action for the security of the region.
“With this operation, the Río Negro Police demonstrate once again its effectiveness and dedication in the fight against organized crime, providing tranquility and security to the citizens of the Alto Valle.”
