The Barranquilla Metropolitan Police reported the capture of 10 alleged criminals for the crimes of conspiracy and aggravated robbery.

The arrests of these alleged criminals were recorded after 24 months of investigations.

“Thanks to a two-year investigation by the Criminal Investigation Section in which information from the Intelligence Section was used, in coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office, the identities of the alleged members of a criminal group dedicated to thefts were established. residences, commerce and people in different modalities”the police reported.

After collecting material evidence, the Special Operations Group of the Police, Carabineros and the Army carried out 10 search and search procedures in the neighborhoods San Roque, Rebolo, Las Américas, in Barranquilla, and Nuevo Éxito, in Soledad.

During the procedures, nine people were captured by arrest warrant and nine cell phones, a traumatic pistol and a motorcycle were seized.

According to the investigation, this criminal structure would be responsible for several cases of thefts from people, businesses and residences in Barranquilla, Puerto Colombia and Galapa.

“This criminal group was led by alias ‘El Chama’, who coordinated the functions of aliases ‘Edgardo’, ‘Galvis’, ‘El Cabe’, ‘El Viejo’, ‘Jhony’, ‘Rafita’ or ‘El Gallero’, ‘Jumbo’ and ‘Burbuja’, who are linked to four cases and their possible participation in another 14 since 2021 is being investigated.”said the Armed Institution.

According to the official report, information and evidence would indicate that those captured participated in the theft at a recreational center in Sabanilla, the theft from the Juan XXIII Coastal Regional Seminary, the Junior training headquarters in Sabanilla and some companies on the highway. to Juan Mina. In total, this criminal structure would have seized at least one billion pesos.

“This structure marked its victims, followed them and then entered the properties by making holes in walls or windows, then 10 criminals entered who intimidated those who were in the place and stole everything they found.”.

Among all those captured, there are 41 judicial notes for the crimes of conspiracy to commit a crime, drug trafficking, homicide, illegal possession of weapons, aggravated theft, prisoner escape, domestic violence, personal injuries, reception, violence against a public servant, resolution fraud judicial, use of a false document, damage to another’s property and violent sexual access.
