Several emergencies left the rains that were recently recorded in 33 municipalities of Huila, such as damaged homes, collapsed roads, destroyed crops and landslides in the municipalities of La Plata and Garzón.
Likewise, in a rural area of the municipality of Teruel, in the west of the department, a person is missing, lAfter being swept away by the La María River, an emergency that is being attended to by relief agencies and the community.
“We continue with the emergencies, due to the rains that occurred during the weekend in the vast majority of the municipalities of Huila. Among the news we have a report in the municipality of Teruel, of a missing person who was swept away by the La María river that flows into the Pedernal river, the search is underway with relief agencies so far without results,” confirmed Orlando Garzón, disaster response professional at the risk management office in Huila.
Meanwhile, in the area of the Puerto Valencia village, on the borders of Huila and Cauca, a landslide on the Páez River, a situation that forced the fire units of the municipality of La Plata to remain constantly monitoring the tributary.
“In the municipality of Garzón we have a landslide on the road that leads to the town center of San Antonio del Pescado. There is the mayor’s machinery working on the removal of earth, in the same way they report to us another landslide in Santa María, some damaged homes,” said the official.
According to the official report, so far this winter season in Huila there is a record of a total of 288 affected families, 38 homes at high risk and 24 damaged urban and rural aqueducts. Within the balance there is also a person who died in the La Chiquita village of the municipality of Gigante at the end of last May.
