Council of State analyzes alleged irregularities in the election of the Corporinoquia leadership

Under the scrutiny of the Council of State is the lawsuit for the alleged irregular election of Doris Bernal Cárdenas as general director of the Orinoquía Regional Autonomous Corporation (Corporinoquia) for the period 2024-2027.

A first step in this direction taken by the highest court is related to the objections presented by the plaintiff, which were resolved in a decision by Judge Ómar Joaquín Barreto Suárez.

The decision established the litigation of this case and decreed the key evidence, with a view to an early ruling that puts an end to this legal controversy, which was raised by alleged anomalies in the election process of Bernal Cárdenas.

The aforementioned irregularities were denounced at the time by the oversight office for transparency and merit in the election of the director of Corporinoquia and other plaintiffs.

Among the aspects to be clarified are possible violations of the recusal process, the modification of the agenda in the election session, the lack of publicity in the schedule changes and the participation of the representative of the black communities in the board of directors.

In his decision, Judge Barreto Suárez dismissed the objections of unviable claim, inadequate integration of the counterparty and lack of passive legitimacy presented by the accused party, which means that the court rejected the arguments that questioned the admissibility or requirements of the claim, thus allowing the process to move forward.
