Scientists will study road accidents in the province to establish the main causes of them, in order to then implement public policies that solve these problems and thus achieve better road safety. The report that emerges from the investigation will be an unpublished document, since it will be worked on comprehensively by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF), the Ministry of Government of San Juan and the National University of San Juan (UNSJ) after signing an agreement.

“The main objective is to coordinate actions with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which has information on all road accidents in the province, together with the UNSJ, which has the specialized people to do so, and thus determine, not only statistics, but what they are. the main causes of traffic accidents, and that can give us a more accurate picture to take measures in the road safety work that the Ministry of Government has,” he told HUARPE DIARYthe Minister of Government, Laura Palma.

“Therefore, the perception that one has of the road accident as a citizen is only what one sees in the news, a comprehensive study like this gives you a more complete picture,” added the Orreguista official. And then he exemplified: “Knowing in which age group there are the greatest number of accidents can lead us to make key decisions.” Along these lines he added as an example that with the study in hand, they can begin to “work with more emphasis on “road education in schools, or being more rigorous when granting a driving license.”

Finally, Palma highlighted that this study will allow them to make “more correct decisions.” Regarding the road safety plan that she currently coordinates with the Ministry of Security, the official indicated that she increased the police presence on the streets and control operations. She also explained that they are in permanent contact with the Emicar authorities to increase road safety education.

For his part, the attorney general of the Court, Eduardo Quattropani, told this newspaper that the Public Prosecutor’s Office is going to make the files of road accidents available to the UNSJ and the Ministry of Government so that the commission of experts can carry out a statistical study. and determine the coincidences of the accident.”

“It will be the first comprehensive study carried out in the province by qualified professionals and under rigorous and scientific criteria,” he concluded.
