Mayor Alejandro Eder’s intention to continue recovering Cali’s public spaces is firmly advancing. In this sense, the Special Administrative Unit of Public Services, Uaesp, signed the contract with which the EMSIRVA ESP EN LIQUIDACIÓN Cleaning Company is responsible for collecting construction and demolition waste of clandestine origin dumped in public areas of the city.

Since the beginning of the execution of the contract, 42 heavily impacted points in Cali have been intervened and in less than a month, the collection of 6,015 cubic meters of construction and demolition waste was achieved.

According to Camilo Murcia, director of the Uaesp, “the contract with EMSIRVA contemplates the collection, transportation and final disposal of 11,510 cubic meters of construction and demolition waste; and it is a response from the district administration to provide a better quality of life to the people of Cali with a clean, orderly and safe city.”

Murcia Lozano explained that the public spaces impacted by the inadequate disposal of construction and demolition waste were identified after exhaustive monitoring carried out by the Uaesp in the first months of the year in the territories. “This work allowed us to identify among the 42 clandestine dumping points, the 7 sectors most impacted by construction and demolition waste in Cali, to which we are giving priority attention.”

These are the 7 most critical points for clandestine waste identified by the Uaesp in Cali:

  • South Freeway from 25th Street to 70th Street.
  • 48th Street from Carrera 39 to Carrera 50.
  • Calle 126 between Carrera 28C11 to Carrera 26H Bis.
  • Transversal 103 from race 25 to race 28D.
  • Calle 84 between Carrera 1B to Carrera 9N.
  • Calle 121 from Carrera 25 to Carrera 29 (Ecological Belt).
  • Avenida Ciudad de Cali from race 1 to race 50.

Finally, the district administration reiterates the call to citizens to be part of the reconciliation process that begins by caring for and keeping the city clean.

“Garbage does not reach critical points or rainwater channels alone, so it is key, in the case of debris, to call the certified environmental managers, known as ‘the chaneros’ and for the bulky debris to call the hotline.” 110”, concluded Murcia Lozano.
