Marcelo Bielsa’s Uruguay is one of the great candidates to win this Copa América 2024. The Loco team started on the right foot after beating Panama 3-1 and this Thursday they will qualify for the quarterfinals against Bolivia at the MetLife Stadium.
In the run-up to this match, the Argentine coach faced the microphones at a press conference alongside midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur, with whom he had a notable joke that sparked laughter from the journalists present.
It all started when El Loco dedicated some good words to his coach, stating that “I don’t know if I made reference to a Brazilian player who played very similar to you.” “Yes,” the player responded. “Do you remember his name?” Bielsa asked again, receiving an embarrassing “No” from the midfielder.

Regarding the match against Bolivia, Bielsa previously warned that “favoritism is a totally inconsequential issue manipulated by the media. Letting the weakest win is also an option in football. I think there is no point in anticipating what is going to happen, it is impossible to predict.”
