One week after the mysterious disappearance of the little one Loan Danilo Peña (5) in the rural area of 9 de Julio, in Corrientes, the search for police, firefighters and rescuers does not stop despite the lack of results. On Wednesday, upon the recommendation of the Attorney General, a second prosecutor joined the investigation of the case.

On the sixth day of the search, the five boys who had gone to look for oranges with Loan, his uncle and another couple, They told how their movements were that day. The adults, who are being held in preventive detention, were also taken to the El Algarrobal area, but they only limited themselves to indicating the place where they last saw the child.

The lawyer for the detainees was at the scene and was surprised because the prosecutor Juan Carlos Castillo did not order the arrest of an aunt and another woman who was part of the group that on the afternoon of Thursday, June 13, left Loan’s grandmother’s house to go look for citrus fruits on a property that is about 600 meters from the house.

Castillo decided to leave Loan’s uncle detained, Bernardino Antonio Benítez, and his couple of friends, Daniel Oscar Ramírez, alias “Fierrito”, and Mónica Carmen Millapi, to whom he charged the crime of “abandonment of person.” In that sense, he alleged that “the defendants had to take care of the minors in their care and they abandoned Loan to his fate, placing him in a situation of helplessness, since he could not take care of himself in the environment he found himself in.”

The prosecutor insisted that until now there is no element or indication that Loan was kidnapped. The hypothesis on which he works, now with the support of prosecutor Guillermo Barry, is that the boy took the wrong path and got lost in the area, which is characterized by grasslands, mountains and lagoons.

“Based on testimonies, what I have objectively is that The boy took another path, which went the other way.“I have verified that from the statements of the children who were with him,” the prosecutor explained on a radio station in Corrientes.

The search for Loan has been going on for a week without results.

Regarding the area where the search is being carried out, he explained that “it is a dense area of mountains that does not allow us to see anything from above. I asked that they deepen the raking by entering the densest areas with a machete. “We are looking for a very small baby.”

Some researchers find it strange that they walked more than half a kilometer in search of citrus trees when, in the yard of the home of Catalina Peña, the boy’s grandmother, there were tangerine and orange plants with ripe fruits.

The rescuers once again covered the El Algarrobal area inch by inch while others expanded the search area. In the afternoon the rumor about the discovery of a small slipper in an abandoned house and a video of an alleged break-in, but no source confirmed it.

But raking is not only carried out on land. The Government of Corrientes sent a helicopter to collaborate on the tours and the overflight of militarized drones, with infrared cameras and temperature sensors, continues. On land, dozens of trained dogs continue searching for any trace that may allow them to find the boy.

Loan disappeared on Thursday around 2:30 p.m. When they returned from picking the fruits, she walked forward to the other boys and told them that she was going back to her father, after which she walked away from her with an orange in her hand. Her uncle and her couple friends had been late and would not have noticed that she Loan had walked away from the group.
