The National Library presented the exhibition ‘Arturo Álape, The River of Memory’an archival sample of the featured Cali intellectual Arturo Álapeconsidered one of the main representatives of testimonial literature in the country.

“The exhibition is not a timeline of his career. What will be shown, in summary terms, is all that sensitivity, his curiosities, the political and artistic interests that he had during his life. and how he traveled through them, always recognizing in his work the political commitment to the social and revolutionary struggles of his time,” explained Natalia Tejada García, curator of the exhibition.

The exhibition is organized around three thematic axes that cover investigative method and historical legacy, artistic and literary narratives and political events investigated.

It also has notes from Álape on the origin of the guerrillascorrespondence, manuscripts, audios of interviews with historical figures from Latin America and their pictorial work

The Álape archive, basis of the exhibition, was donated to the National Library of Colombia by his children Paloma and Manuel Ruiz, and Katia González Martínez.

It consists of more than 35 boxes with almost 50,000 pages, 400 audio cassettes, video files, 3,000 photographsand sketches and originals of his pictorial work.
