According to the information provided by the Police, those captured would have arrived in the city of Santa Marta from the department of Córdoba, with the aim of committing homicides against members of the Organized Criminal Group, due to a dispute over territorial control in different illicit activities. including extortion and drug trafficking

Among the most wanted of the Clan del Golfo

Among those captured is alias “Jairo”, who appears on the most wanted poster in the city of Montería. Alias ​​“Jairo” served as zone coordinator and led criminal activities related to the execution of homicides of people who engaged in behavior contrary to the organization. In addition, he was in charge of regulating the storage and control of firearms, as well as the collection of money resulting from extortion.

There is also alias “Luigi”, who is accused of belonging to the hitman component of the David Meza Peña Front. “Luigi” was the driving force behind the collection of extortions from merchants, ranchers and landowners, and hierarchically he would be the urban leader, with Santa Marta as jurisdiction.

This individual was in charge of bringing personnel to carry out criminal activities such as selective homicides, extortion and threats, acting as reinforcements for the criminal territorial dispute between the AGC and the ACSN “Los Pachencas”.

During the operation, a 38-millimeter revolver-type firearm, a 9-millimeter pistol-type firearm, five cell phones, 66 7.62 rifle cartridges, pistol cartridges and revolver cartridges, along with allusive pamphlets, were seized. to the GAO – Clan del Golfo.

This direct action against organized crime translates into a palpable improvement in citizen security, providing the inhabitants of the city of Santa Marta with a safer and calmer environment to carry out their activities.

Likewise, the ability of this GAO to commit criminal actions is reduced. “We managed to neutralize the expansionist intentions of the Gulf Clan, who intend to take over new territories and strengthen their armed and financial capacity through criminal activities to control the criminal income of drug trafficking,” added Colonel Jorge Andrés Bernal Granada, Commander of the Metropolitan Police. of Santa Marta.

The arrests take place within the framework of the operation “United Comprehensive Plan Against Kidnapping and Extortion” and through the deployment of the “Police Service Model Oriented to People and Territories”, in coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office 192 DECOC, deploying all institutional capacities and through an investigative and intelligence component.

The National Police in the city of Santa Marta continues to carry out investigative and operational activities, in order to provide a significant response to the criminal actions of armed groups, contributing to the Government Plan in search of total peace.
