Health Alert: Montería concentrates 40% of dengue cases in Córdoba

Montería represents almost 40% of dengue cases in the department of Córdoba, according to the departmental Health Secretariat. This situation has generated a health alert, and the community has been urged to collaborate in the prevention of this disease transmitted by mosquitoes.

According to data from the municipal Health Secretariat, the livestock capital concentrates 853 of the 2,113 confirmed cases of dengue in the entire department. This high incidence has led authorities to redouble their efforts to control the spread of the virus.

The Ministry of Health has reported on the detection of the Aedes albopictus mosquito in Montería and five other municipalities in the south of Córdoba. This mosquitoo, which can reproduce in both clean and dirty waters, has posed a new challenge for dengue control in the region.

Unlike Aedes aegypti, the predominant mosquito that only reproduces in clean waterAedes albopictus has a greater capacity for adaptation, which facilitates its spread in different types of aquatic environments.

To monitor the presence of this mosquito and other vectors, a network of traps has been implemented in different neighborhoods of Montería. However, health authorities emphasize the importance of community collaboration to combat the proliferation of Aedes albopictus.

A call has been made to residents to Eliminate any type of stagnant water, both clean and dirty, that could serve as a breeding ground for these mosquitoes.

Dengue remains a major concern for health authorities in Córdoba, especially in Montería, where the high incidence of cases requires stricter prevention measures.
