Esperanza’s story shocked and moved the entire city of Córdoba. The dog was found skinned, hanging around the Los Boulevares neighborhood. A group of rescue girls saved her and she underwent successful surgery, after a quick and successful solidarity campaign.
Now, the dog faces a long road to recovery, however there is concern for other dogs that would have similar injuries in the same neighborhood.
Everything became known on Thursday, the day Antonella, a young rescuer from dogs, learned that there was a dog in a very serious condition wandering around the vicinity of the Juvenile Defenders Club, in the Los Boulevares neighborhood of the Capital. The girl was at her work, so two other women were in charge of taking the dog at first.
Finally, they received her at the Chocos Veterinary Sanatorium. There they informed her that she had to undergo emergency surgery, so Anto started a collection that soon went viral. This Friday, Esperanza underwent successful surgery and, although they had to remove all the dead tissue she had, she is already on the road to recovery.
According to what the veterinarian told him, the dog had been in that state for approximately six days until she was rescued. “We found her in time,” the young woman told The voice. Now, she has been discharged and is under the care of the young rescuer and Amalia, another girl who shares her love for animals.
Esperanza is two years old and, in Antonella’s words, “she is very loving and happy every time she sees her.” She must receive treatments and be examined by professionals on a regular basis, in a recovery that will take at least three months.
Hope: what could have happened to her and concern about similar cases
The dog was frequently seen by the residents of Los Boulevares. In fact, both the boys and the teachers of the Juvenile Defenders Club told the young woman that the animal was always affectionate.
“It strikes me that several days passed in which the dog was injured. “No one picked her up or tried to help her,” lamented the rescuer, who also added that there are other cases similar to Esperanza’s in the area.
“Neighbors said that other dogs also appeared with cuts on their bodies. In the Facebook groups we saw one whose ear was cut off,” she said and did not rule out that it could be intentional attacks.
Although the specialists who treated her could not specify how Esperanza ended up so hurt, the type of cut caught their attention. “It was a straight wound,” Antonella explained.
For now, the rescuers have not contacted any authorities nor have they been contacted by them.
Esperanza Case: they request help for their recovery
Esperanza’s case moved the Córdoba community, which did not hesitate to collaborate monetarily with the shelter Let’s save paws, who took care of the dog. Thanks to the solidarity of the people, the money was raised for the operation as well as for this first round of antibiotics, painkillers and healing elements.
However, Antonella said she still needs help from those who want to cooperate, both financially and by donating sheets or quilts. The alias for the collection is let’s save.legs in the name of Llanes Antonella.
“I want to thank everyone enormously for the impact and the help they gave us,” concluded the young woman.
