Through the Social Chess Project, carried out by the BioCórdoba Municipal Entitythe mayor Daniel Passerini gave ten chess boards and a teaching blackboard to the Belgrano Athletic Club.

It should be noted that both the games, which include the pieces and the boards, as well as the teaching blackboard (wall board) were manufactured with recycled materials in the area of Carpentry and Blacksmithing at the Municipal School of Circular Economy (EMEC). The boards are of two different models: one, plywood with recycled materials, and another, with solid planked wood cutouts from engine boxes from the Iveco company. Meanwhile, the teaching blackboard was manufactured from a metal frame with a plate, whose pieces were made with vinyl glued to a magnet sheet.

Among the materials delivered, a table stood out that includes a board for blind people: the different texture of the white and black squares allows their recognition by touch.

In a simple event that took place in the Belgrano press room, the Mayor stated:

“Connecting, integrating and humanizing is a beautiful mandate. Belgrano is always one step ahead: it is a club that is part of the community and that speaks of the commitment it has to the people” and highlighted: “Córdoba is the world capital of the Circular Economy. Today, climate change and so many inappropriate actions have dehumanized the planet and beginning to repair that damage requires committed actions.”

For its part, the second vice president of Belgrano, Alejandro Moyanoheld: “I hope there are many children and adults who play chess, because it develops intelligence, improves academic performance and helps to quickly solve problems, not only on the board, but in life.”

Another board was given as a tribute to the international master Guillermo Soppethe club’s teacher, who was Argentine cadet champion, and absolute Argentine champion on two occasions.

Meanwhile, the deputy director of Inclusive Sustainability, Rodrigo Rojasexpressed: “The mayor encouraged us to humanize management, and entrusted us with bringing Ente BioCórdoba products to the neighborhood, with Circular Economy, sustainability and inclusion. Belgrano is a place of social cohesion, with respect and inclusion, a refuge where we come to learn. In chess you don’t lose: you win or you learn.”

Not everything revolved around the circular economy and chess: in his speech, the Mayor praised the value of clubs as actors in social life and highlighted that they “They are not anonymous.”
