Since this Wednesday morning, The Constituent Convention of La Rioja is in the last session facing the approval of the constitutional reform on July 11, which seeks to incorporate more rights for Riojans. What the new Rioja Constitution includes

The new rights include Universal Basic Income, the gender perspective, and water, energy and connectivity as basic rights. In this sense, they advanced that A special session will be requested before June 26 to continue working on the Reform of the Provincial Magna Carta.

The Constituent Convention of La Rioja He began his session by addressing, first of all, the treatment on tables of the projects of the Human Rights Commissionthe proposal to introduce new rights in the Constitution that will place the text of the new local Constitution at the forefront of the Constitutions of the rest of the provincesbecause it incorporates rights that modify and consecrate the complete fulfillment of people and their existence, ensuring equality for all. In this way, gender equality is also ensured with positive actions that guarantee political parity and the elimination of structural barriers that prevent it.

Likewise, they highlighted that “The conventional ones worked intensely so that each of these five chapters that will be approved this day can grant more rights, creating a fairer society for everyone, especially for the most vulnerable sectors”.

One of the notable rights is Universal Basic Income, making this Constitution “the first in the world to equate in equality, values ​​and possibilities to the most marginalized sectors of society”. In addition, water, energy and connectivity are constitutionalized as rights, and constitutional status is granted to the principle of parity, being the first Constitution with constitutionalized parity.

“We needed the Constitution to reflect, not only in the powers of the State, a society that observes differently the actions that a historically marginalized sector can carry out”, they stated from the assembly. In this sense, they added that This is a Constitution with a gender perspective due to the political decision of Governor Ricardo Quintela to create a new Constitution with parity and inclusive language.
