A case of fraud in the water service was discovered this Wednesday in the housing project ‘Country House Plots’, located in the sector known as Camino Piñeres, the municipality of Sabanagrande, near the road to Polonuevo km 1, on the Atlantic.
Triple A reported that this project, which consists of 300 homes, of which 30 are already built and most of them with swimming pools, was being supplied with water irregularly.
The homes, each with a building area of 1,000 m², were illegally connected through two 2 and 3 inch polyethylene connections to a 16 inch conduction line, which supplies the municipalities of Polonuevo and Baranoa.
This discovery occurred thanks to regular monitoring carried out by the company, which revealed approximate losses of 70 liters per second in this section
of the conduction line towards the municipalities, increasing on weekends to 90 liters per second.
These losses are equivalent to 181,440 cubic meters per month, enough to supply a population of 40,320 inhabitants.
“The irregular connections detected have been significantly affecting the supply and frequency of water to the inhabitants of the municipalities of Baranoa and Polonuevo. Given this, we deployed an operation with teams specialized in identifying and canceling irregularities, using heavy machinery to carry out the necessary excavations,” the company said in a statement.
He also added that for these operations, the company makes use of advanced technological tools such as macro meters with telemetry, georadar and geophone, to detect leaks and fraud, and thus continue protecting the integrity of its networks and ensuring the quality of service for all. its users.
