The most recent summons, imposed on the hostel in Antonia Santos, was due to the detection of five positive breeding sites for the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, the vector of dengue. The presence of these breeding sites represents a significant risk for the proliferation of mosquitoes and the increase in dengue cases in the city.

Municipal authorities have reiterated the importance of keeping spaces clean and free of mosquito breeding sites, as well as following public health recommendations to prevent the spread of this disease. To date, five deaths from dengue have been reported in Bucaramanga.

The Ministry of Health and Environment has intensified its control and surveillance operations, in addition to carrying out preventive actions such as the delivery of more than 700 awnings, training talksand collaboration with the EPS and IPS to ensure that patients receive the best possible service.

Claudia Mercedes Amaya, Secretary of Health of Bucaramanga, emphasized: “We will spare no effort in the surveillance and control of establishments that do not comply with public health regulations. Dengue prevention is a shared responsibility between authorities and citizens.”

The Mayor’s Office of Bucaramanga indicated that it will continue to carry out inspections and apply the necessary sanctions to guarantee a healthy environment for all residents of the city.
