Corrientes: the 35 suspended drivers receive 50% of their salary

The transport crisis continues but this Wednesday, the 35 drivers of the Ersa company – who were suspended in the first days of the month – received half their salary. This occurs within the framework of negotiations between the Automotive Tramway Union (UTA), the Ministry of Labor and the transport companies.

Official sources told El Litoral that: “The 35 drivers suspended for 60 days would be receiving 50% of their salaries.”

At the beginning of the month, the company with the largest fleet in Corrientes Capital had sent notifications to 120 steering wheel workers that they would be suspended for 90 days and without pay. This is due to the crisis preventive procedure requested by companies due to the removal of subsidies that until then they received.

With the presentation of notes by the union that brings together the drivers to the Secretary of Labor that intervenes in the negotiations with the urban transport companies, an agreement was reached to reduce the number of drivers on suspension, which went from 120 to 35 and from 90 days to 60.

“The company has agreed to renew the contracts once the 60-day period has elapsed,” official sources told this newspaper.

Therefore, by August once this deadline is met, the drivers will have their jobs secured.
