Not the entire rich Star Wars universe revolves around the Skywalker clan. What’s more, sometimes it does it around you and your decisions. There are endless adventures starring Jedi knights, smugglers with extra mischief and even allies of the Galactic Empire out of genuine loyalty or their own interests; and many of the best have given the spotlight to us through video games. A tradition that began in the days of Atari and that, as you will see, evolves in very, very interesting directions.
At VidaExtra we have proposed to put together all the projects that the reborn LucasFilm Games has licensed related to Star Wars and is being shaped through third parties, including a necessary review of several of the most anticipated video games and what we know about those of us who do not even have the final title. Conveniently leaving the door open for new additions and surprises.
All future Star Wars games? Well, we have established four exceptions: the re-releases of the classics, the ones that were officially canceled (like Star Wars: Rise to Power) and finally, those special franchise collaborations like the addition of the Jedis and Sith to Ubisoft’s Brawlhalla game. Additionally, we are aware of rumors surrounding new projects, but we will add them when they are announced. The reason is simple: we are going to focus on new games and continuing the legacy of Star Wars in video games.
Without further ado, below you will find all the video games based on the franchise Star Wars that have been announced to date in alphabetical order and, most suggestively: what do we know about each of them.
Star Wars Eclipse
Announced in December 2021, Star Wars Eclipse It is the first major video game in the saga set during the era of the High Republic, which places its events several centuries before the classic trilogy of films in star Wars and, by extension, in the golden age of the Jedi. However, the most significant thing about this action-adventure game is that it is in the hands of Quantic Dream.

Star Wars: Hunters
Star Wars: Hunters It takes the traditional combat formula between the best and the worst of the galaxy far, far away and updates it for portable systems such as mobile phones and the Nintendo Switch itself. And although the name refers to bounty hunters within the era of the fall of the Galactic Empire, we can play as stormtroopers, droids, rebels and even collide laser swords.
Technically, Star Wars: Hunters It is now available as early access (soft launch) on Android devices and it is expected that at some point in 2024 it will be playable on iOS and will arrive on the eShop. In any case, it is a third-person competitive action game designed for multiplayer; and giving it a try will be easy by betting on the free to play model, in addition to offering cross-play on all systems.
As an additional curiosity, the characters are integrated into the Star Wars canon. As far as we know, the bounty hunter Imara Vex appeared in the fifth comic of the series War of the Bounty Hunters shortly before it was released in early access. In addition, Huttball joins the canon of the Disney era after his appearance in the PVP of Star Wars: The Old Republic. In the end everything stays at home.
Star Wars Jedi 3

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was the first RPG based on the galactic franchise and is still considered one of the best Star Wars video games ever made. Precisely for this reason, the announcement of a remake that would update its ambition and excellence to the extent of what was expected from current PS5 and PC games was received with enormous effusiveness. The other side of the coin is that its development is being more complicated than expected.
The premise takes us thousands of years before the events of the film saga of Star Wars and the most interesting thing is that our decisions will have an impact on the fate of the entire known universe: we can choose to be a hero or a villain and even dethrone Darth Malak, the Sith Lord who tries to take control of the galaxy.
The project began to be developed at the hands of Aspyr Media and shortly after they took over from Saber Interactive after complicated cycles in which, unofficially, it is sometimes suggested that the remake of KOTOR has stopped its development and others that the game continues to take shape with a certain normality. For its part, an Embracer Group, mired in its own economic difficulties, affirms that development continues but has not offered any news since its announcement. At this point the big question is whether it will come out on PS5 or PS6.
Star Wars: Outlaws
Ubisoft recovers the Lucasfilm license in a big way with Star Wars Outlawsconfers it to Massive Entertainment (responsible for The Division) and relies on its well-known formulas and that ambition that characterizes its sagas: like the outlaw Kay Vess We will explore an open world game that will propose us to confront crime syndicates and rob the Empire itself.
Star Wars Outlaws It is located squarely in the canon of the saga. Specifically between the events of the movies The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. And that’s really interesting: after the Battle of Yavin, a wave of chaos began and fear of the presence of the Galactic Empire began to crack… And Vess plans to take his own piece of this panorama.
Yves Guillemot himself assured that Star Wars Outlaws will offer players an experience “unlike anything ever done before“. The good thing is that it won’t take us too long to take him at his word: the next great video game based on the galactic saga will be available starting next August 30, 2024 on Xbox Series, PS5 and PC.
A strategy game from Respawn and Bit Reactor
Electronic Arts and Lucasfilm renewed their alliance after ten years, and despite the fact that the exclusivity of the license was lost in the process Star Warsin January 2022 no less than three new games produced by Respawn were announced: the already released Star Wars Jedi Survivora canceled first-person shooter and strategy game made in collaboration with Bit Reactor.

A Skydance action and adventure game
It’s impossible not to have high hopes for a Star Wars action-adventure title in which she’s involved. Amy Hennig to whom we owe sagas such as Legacy of Kain, Jak & Daxter or Uncharted… Above all, when it was already well soaked in that universe after experiencing the cinematographic phenomenon from its origins and an attempt to develop a colossal open world game for EA which ended up cancelled.

On the other hand, Amy Hennig will direct the game alongside Dominic Robilliard, although at the moment no release dates or platforms or a specific setting have been given.
