The citizens of Metropolis, and who knows if the entire world?, once again need the intervention of the superhero from Krypton to save them from a catastrophic threat. James Gunn has taken control, in direction and also as co-writer, for the highly anticipated next film by superman, replacing the initially announced one of Superman: Legacyand that will have to David Corenswetfollowing in the footsteps, in the cinema, of Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill, as heir to the famous Man of Steel suit. And although we will still have to wait until summer of next year for the premiere, at least finally a first image has been released of the new characterization.
Superman’s typical bluish suit with cape and red boots, and recovering the underwear on the outside of the same color, with the big “S” in the middle that identifies it, and Coresnwet sheathed with the clothing. Behind him, a window with views of the city’s skyscrapers with a violet lightning bolt and an explosion crossing the sky.
The image has been released by Gunn himself, on the Threads social network, and he has curiously chosen one that does not show us the superhero in full action or taking to the skies. but preparingputting on red boots to get going in the face of the danger that lurks. A first look that also shows us an already somewhat dirty and worn suit.suggesting that he has probably been putting his superpowers to good use for some time now to combat villains of all kinds.
James Gunn has also assured that the image of the suit has been taken by Jess Miglio without CGI or any type of trickery or use of Photoshop.
Remember that, like the journalist Lois Lane, we will have Rachel Brosnahan, while Nicholas Hoult will play Superman’s most iconic archenemy, Lex Luthor. Furthermore, they highlight Nathan Fillion like Green Lantern, Isabella Merced playing Hawkgirl, Anthony Carrigan like Metamorph, Edi Gathegi embodying Mr. Terrific or Wendell Pierce as Perry White, the Daily Planet’s newspaper editor-in-chief.
The release date of superman has been set for July 11, 2025and it will also be especially important because it will mark the beginning of the new era of the DC superhero universe initiated by James Gunn and the producer Peter Safran. Furthermore, taking into account Gunn’s involvement, after succeeding in the Marvel universe with the trilogy of Guardians of the Galaxyallows us to predict that we will have more humor and irony, moving away from the more solemn and somber style of the previous films directed by Zack Snyder.
