Matrix It is a saga of action and science fiction films that premiered in 1999, was written and directed by the Wachowski brothers. This first installment of the renowned saga was starred by Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving and Joe Pantolianoand depicts a dystopian future in which humanity is unknowingly trapped inside the Matrix, a simulated reality.
The tetralogy of science fiction films consists of: The Matrix (1999), The Matrix Reloaded (2003), The Matrix Revolutions (2003) and The Matrix Resurrections (2021).
Many believed that after the last release of the saga that took place in 2021, there was going to be a big pause in production; however, Warner has given the surprise by announcing the launch of a fifth installment which will also be the first in the saga that does not feature any of the Wachowski sisters in the script and direction.

Although Warner has not given a possible date for the release of ‘Matrix 5’, it is known that The production of the film is already in the early phase of development, so this deadline is expected to be extended until 2026. Many have commented that this installment could be made to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the premiere of the first installment and see what the public reaction was.
In back of ‘Matrix 5’ will be directed by American Andrew Brion Hogan Goddard, who will be in charge of both writing and directing the film. Until now it was mainly because of his role as a screenwriter in films like ‘Monstrous’, ‘World War Z’ or ‘Mars’. In addition, he has also participated in several television series such as ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, ‘Alias’ or ‘Lost’.
It is worth mentioning that the production of Warner has been very careful with the information they have shared about ‘Matrix 5’, But there is one important detail that Jesse Ehrman, the company’s president of production, has said. Namely, the fact that Goddard “will add his vision to the cinematic canon that the Wachowskis have been working on for 25 years.”
‘Matrix 5’ was born from an idea that Goddard himself had, from which he will “honor what Lana and Lilly started 25 years ago by offering a unique perspective based on their love for this saga and its characters”. Also taking that into account, it would be very strange if it did not recover some old acquaintances of the franchise; however, no further details are known.
So far it is not known which actors will make up the cast, since it has been mentioned that with the change of direction there are those who refuse to return. However, fans are hoping for the return of Keanu Reeves as Neo and Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity.
