Annihilator’s Jeff Waters releases Amerikan Kaos, with influences from Van Halen and

“Armageddon Boogie” is the first of three albums with material far from his band’s sound.

Jeff Watersguitarist and leader of ANNIHILATORhas launched his project AMERIKAN KAOS with the album “Armageddon Boogie“, the first of the new three solo albums what’s wrong with it finished and on which he started working during confinement.

The musician has published the following message about this adventure that merges “80s Rock with classic Metal”:

“Hello ANNIHILATOR friends! Jeff Waters has three new albums for you.

After 35 years and 17 studio albums with ANNIHILATOR, I can finally start releasing three solo albums, to bring out a little of that Rock n’ Roll that I have inside. Yes: three albums on the way. Different styles, musicians, singers, productions, etc. If you don’t like one, you might like another!

On the meaning of “Amerikan Kaos”, Waters explains:

“For those curious about the origin of the name, one definition/meaning of ‘Amerika’ refers to all Americas: North, South and Central America…like this diverse musical chaos, people! American Kaos is born!”

The second part of the musical trilogy will arrive in March 2025 and will be titled “All That Jive“. The third and final chapter will be “The Sheeple Swing“.

Waters had previously given the keys to the sound of the new material:

“I live in England. I’ve had a studio there with my wife for about six years. Just before the pandemic, we brought in SSL sharing consoles and upgraded everything to make it an incredible mixing studio. And then the pandemic hit. So I I was left with this beautiful studio and the instruments and all this fun stuff. And I thought, ‘Fuck it. Now is the time to be creative and do something outside of Heavy Metal‘. So it is more Hard Rock. There is everything, from disco music even THE KNACK, KISS and early stuff, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, 70s, 80s, a little bit of VAN HALEN, of course. So for me it’s not new, groundbreaking, incredible material. It’s more like a tribute in a way, in my own way.”

Singers on Jeff Waters’ new albums

The guitarist, also used to singing, will have guest vocalists on these albums:

“I have real singers. Stu Block, who was in ICED EARTH and INTO ETERNITY and all that, a fellow Canadian and a great singer. The deal with Stu was that he knew he was an amazing Metal singer. And I know on ICED EARTH he did some other things, but I could hear in him that he had everything from Michael Jackson, George Michael, to some Blues stuff. But no one had taken him there as a producer or composer. So I asked him, ‘Would you be interested in trying something different?’ He was like, “I don’t know. What do you mean? And basically, you won’t be able to tell it’s him. He’s fantastic… he’s done a couple of albums with me.”
