Dua Lipa has been through ‘Saturday night Live’ to promote his new album, ‘Radical Optimism’, how well you need a boost promo, things as they are. The album seems to debut with around 60,000 units in the United States, which although practically equal to the debut of ‘Future Nostalgia’ (66k), they taste like little after an era in which it has devastated in such a way.
To lift your spirits a little, Dua Lipa has exercised host and guest this week on the program, in which she performed two songs from the album: her latest single, ‘Illusion‘, with good choreography, maintaining the red and black tones of the original aesthetic of this album; and ‘Happy For You’ a half-time with elements of eighties rock that has reached its maximum exponent with the end of the performance, in very high contrast to what Bonnie Tyler with a very white light in front.
The performances have been good, but the most entertaining thing about Dua Lipa’s time on the program, beyond the sketches themselves, has been her opening monologue. The singer has been able to laugh at several episodes of her career, such as the moment in which Wendy Williams I call her Dula Peep (“I am Dua Lipa, or as some of you may know me, Dula Peep“), the fact that it seems like he spends his life on vacation (with a joke that is difficult to translate, with the words ‘vacation‘ and ‘holiday‘) or the moment in which the phrase arose “go girl give us nothing” (“I didn’t give you anything, I gave you the best meme of all time”). It’s always a pleasure to see stars take a moment to lighten the issue, honestly.
As a curious fact, by the way, the performance of ‘Illusion‘was presented by Troy Sivanwho gave one of the first opportunities to Dua Lipa: When he barely had a handful of songs released, he invited her to be the opening act for his ‘Suburbia Tour‘ in 2016, because I was a fan of ‘Be The One‘, their second single.
