The Sepultura meeting is approaching: Max Cavalera and Andreas Kisser bring positions closer

Sepultura’s reunion in 2026 with its classic lineup seems to be more than agreed. The protagonists, however, approach positions publicly.

Andreas Kisser says it would be ‘great’ to have Max and Igor Cavalera at Sepultura’s final show

The guitarist of Grave, Andreas Kisserhas left the door open to a possible reunion with the original frontman Max Cavalera and the drummer Igor “Iggor” Cavalera for the last concert of the band’s farewell tour. In a recent interview with the magazine metal hammer from the United Kingdom, Kisser said:

“I won’t deny that it would be great to have one last show with him, but it has to be something great. There should be people who are there to celebrate and not to argue about who was right or wrong in past decisions. In the end, we are celebrating now as today’s Sepultura. “If they want to be a part of this, that would be amazing.”

Max Cavalera responds to the rumors

Kisser’s statements come days after Max Cavalera was interrogated by Sakis Fragos of Rock Hard Greeceon whether the current formation of Grave had approached him to be part of the band’s final concert. Max replied:

“I have not been contacted. In fact, I think I saw something that Andreas, of course, said in an interview, like, ‘Why are we going to ask Max and Igor to participate? They’re going to ruin the party,’ which is very typical of him.”

“I don’t know. I think I’m going to let things happen as they’re going to happen. I’m not going to force anything, and if there comes a time where we feel like we should have a meeting, that’s fine, as long as we do it the right way. Just as with these re-recordings of the first albums of Grave what Igor and I are doing under the name Cavalera. I think we did them the right way, honest, appropriate, from the heart.”

The future of Sepultura and Cavalera

In the interview with Rock Hard Greece, Max added

“Right now I’m not thinking about that. I know they announced the end of the band. I don’t understand this idea. I don’t know if they were forced to do it, or if it’s a mutual decision to just stop playing because they don’t want to do it anymore. Don’t know. I myself can’t live without music. I need to play live. “It’s like the air I breathe.”

Grave They split in 1996 with the departure of Max after the rest of the Brazilian quartet split with the vocalist/guitarist’s wife, Gloria, as their manager. Max’s brother Igor stayed in the group for another ten years before leaving. Grave and meet Max at Cavalera Conspiracy.

Sepultura meeting in 2026

As far as we know in this writing, Sepultura’s plan is to spend 2024 and 2025 touring with the “farewell” of the group’s current lineup. 2026 will be a year of rest in which the reunion of the classic formation of the Brazilian group will be announced and in 2027 they would be playing, reunited, all over the world. Take this information with caution, but everything indicates that the movements are in that direction.
