The president of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Esteban Lazo, congratulated the Governors and Vice Governors elected in the municipal assemblies of Matanzas, Villa Clara, Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba and wished them success in their responsibilities.
He described the electoral process as another day of socialist democracy and victory of the Revolution.
The president of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba also attended in the morning, in his capacity as a deputy, the election of the main government positions in the Arroyo Naranjo municipality of the capital, territory for which he is a deputy.
According to the information offered at a press conference by Alina Balseiro Gutiérrez, president of the National Electoral Council (CEN), of the 12,429 existing constituencies in the country, three thousand 433 voters from the provinces of Matanzas, Villa Clara, Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba.
Of these, he specified, in 25 the delegate positions were vacant for different reasons. He pointed out that all the proposals presented by the President of the Republic were elected with more than half of the valid votes cast in a democratic exercise. 98.96% of the ballots were valid, 34 blank and one void.
They were elected to the positions of Governor and Vice Governor respectively; in Matanzas: Marieta Poey Zamora and Lázaro Vicente Suárez Navarro; in Villa Clara: Milaxy Yanet Sánchez Armas and Noel Cecilio Chinea Pérez; in Cienfuegos: Yolexis Rodríguez Armada and Rolando José Rajadel Alzuri and in Santiago de Cuba: Manuel Falcón Hernández and Waldis González Peinado.
Alina Balseiro commented that by virtue of the provisions of article 250 of the Electoral Law, the CEN informed the President of the Republic and the President of the National Assembly of People’s Power and the delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of People’s Power involved of the results. , after which they proceeded to give it to the population.
He took advantage of the occasion to congratulate the elected officials, as well as the delegates to the municipal assemblies of the People’s Power, deputies and electoral authorities who, in fulfillment of their mission, have developed a democratic day, with transparency and adherence to legality.
In the coming days the Council of State will set the date for the inauguration of their positions before the Provincial Electoral Council and the structures of Popular Power.
