In the year 2020, Rodrigo Urena took the great leap of his career when he went from Cobresal to Cali America and from there his career has been on the rise and with multiple successes: he was champion in his first year in Colombia, then he obtained another title with Sports Tolima and in 2023 he stayed with the local league after a great campaign in University of Limahis current club.

– What is your present like in Peru?

– I have been doing things well for a long time. I am playing very regularly and adding matches both nationally and internationally. Thank God, last year I had the opportunity to become champion of the local tournament and today I am competing in my eighth Libertadores. At my age, that is very good and I think I have had an important career, in my opinion. Abroad I have played in complex teams and I am still in the fight, moving forward.

– As he says, he played cups with América de Cali, Deportes Tolima and with the U, among others. How much does this help you progress?

– Quite. My focus is always on being the best in my position, on seeking perfection and on working day by day. I am a footballer who with a lot of effort tries to impose my game and, thank God, I am in a very large institution, in which I have been able to achieve short-term goals. I hope to continue adding minutes and appearing in the Copa Libertadores, which is the top tournament at the South American level.

– In Peru, the press commented that Ricardo Gareca was watching him. Did you know anything, read the news or did they contact you?

– No, no one has contacted me. I continue working silently, with great humility. Every day I work to be the best, to be able to be different in my position, to make some kind of difference in my game. And as I tell you, very calm and also representing Chilean football in Peru, which is not easy due to the football rivalry we have with them.

– Are you excited about being called at some point?

– I don’t know if I’m excited. As I tell you, I always work with great humility and if at some point the opportunity arose, it would be the result of work, effort, never giving up and always trying to carry the flag of Chile at the South American level, both in Colombia, where I We were champions in two teams, and now in Peru, where we also won the tournament. I hope to continue appearing in international tournaments, which I think is super important for the Chilean soccer player.

Rodrigo Ureña and Jefferson Savarino. The Chilean and Sports University had a complex visit to Botafogo. After a hard-fought first half, two deconcentrations played against U de Lima. Finally, ‘Fogao’ won 3-1 on the third date of the group stage of the Copa Libertadores 2024.Vitor_Silva
