COLORADO — Venezuelan Elías Díaz capped Colorado’s six-run eighth inning with a tiebreaking RBI double and the Rockies beat the San Diego Padres 10-9 on Thursday.
Elehuris Montero and Hunter Goodman homered for Colorado, which split the four-game series. Brenton Doyle and Brendan Rodgers each had three hits for the Rockies’ 14 total.
Rodgers started Colorado’s comeback with a one-out double. Sean Bouchard walked before Goodman welcomed Wandy Peralta (1-1) with a 448-foot shot to left field for his first home run of the season.
Jacob Stallings singled, Ezequiel Tovar walked and Brenton Doyle had a single that drove in another Colorado run. After Tovar’s score, Díaz put the Rockies up 10-9 with a double to left field off Stephen Kolek.
Ha-Seong Kim and Jurickson Profar homered for the Padres, who had won three of four games. Xander Bogaerts had two hits and drove in a run.
For the Padres, Dominicans Fernando Tatis Jr. was 1 for 5 with one run scored, Eguy Rosario was 1 for 2 with one run scored and one RBI. Venezuelan José Azocar was 1 for 4 with one run scored and one RBI.
For the Rockies, Venezuelans Ezequiel Tovar 1-for-4 with two runs scored, Díaz 1-for-4 with three RBIs. Dominican Elehuris Montero 4-1 with one run scored and two RBIs.
