Lola Cars became synonymous with motorsport since it was founded in 1958 by Eric Broadley, thanks to its success in a host of categories, including IndyCar, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Formula 1, Can-Am and Formula 3000.

But The British company entered bankruptcy in 2012 and ceased to exist before British businessman Bechtolsheimer acquired the Lola name and remaining assets in 2022. with the aim of returning to motorsports.

Mark Preston joined the project as director having previously been Techeetah team principal, as the Formula E team won three consecutive drivers’ titles with Jean-Eric Vergne (twice) and Antonio Félix da Costa between 2017 and 2020.

Lola Cars and Yamaha will begin testing with the Gen3 Evo this month as they prepare to supply a powertrain to the Abt team.

“With its historic return to top-level motorsport for season 11 next year, we are delighted that Lola Cars is also committing to the GEN4 era. Its presence will be on the Formula E grid until at least 2030,” said the CEO of Formula E, Jeff Dodds.
